Last Two Verses of Surah Baqarah: Vitues & Benefits

Last two verses of Surah Baqarah has great importance as it highlights the faith of the prophets and the followers of the prophet in Allah as the Sustainer, Guider, & Creator of this universe. These verses also ask for forgiveness, strength, guidance, and mercy from Allah. Surah Baqarah’s last two verses (285-286) are also called “Amana Rasul.”

The last two verses of Surah Al-Baqarah [Amana Rasul]

اٰمَنَ الرَّسُوْلُ بِمَاۤ اُنْزِلَ اِلَیْهِ مِنْ رَّبِّهٖ وَ الْمُؤْمِنُوْنَؕ-كُلٌّ اٰمَنَ بِاللّٰهِ وَ مَلٰٓىٕكَتِهٖ وَ كُتُبِهٖ وَ رُسُلِهٖ۫-لَا نُفَرِّقُ بَیْنَ اَحَدٍ مِّنْ رُّسُلِهٖ۫-وَ قَالُوْا سَمِعْنَا وَ اَطَعْنَا ﱪ غُفْرَانَكَ رَبَّنَا وَ اِلَیْكَ الْمَصِیْرُ

The Messenger has believed in what was revealed to him from his Lord, and [so have] the believers. All of them have believed in Allāh and His angels and His books and His messengers, [saying], “We make no distinction between any of His messengers.” And they say, “We hear and we obey. [We seek] Your forgiveness, our Lord, and to You is the [final] destination.”

رسول اس پر ایمان لایا جو اس کے رب کی طرف سے اس کی طرف نازل کیا گیا اور مسلمان بھی۔ سب اللہ پراور اس کے فرشتوں اور اس کی کتابوں اور اس کے رسولوں پر یہ کہتے ہوئے ایمان لائے کہ ہم اس کے کسی رسول پر ایمان لانے میں فرق نہیں کرتے اورانہوں نے عرض کی: اے ہمارے رب!ہم نے سنا اور مانا، (ہم پر) تیری معافی ہو اور تیری ہی طرف پھرنا ہے

لَا یُكَلِّفُ اللّٰهُ نَفْسًا اِلَّا وُسْعَهَاؕ-لَهَا مَا كَسَبَتْ وَ عَلَیْهَا مَا اكْتَسَبَتْؕ-رَبَّنَا لَا تُؤَاخِذْنَاۤ اِنْ نَّسِیْنَاۤ اَوْ اَخْطَاْنَاۚ-رَبَّنَا وَ لَا تَحْمِلْ عَلَیْنَاۤ اِصْرًا كَمَا حَمَلْتَهٗ عَلَى الَّذِیْنَ مِنْ قَبْلِنَاۚ-رَبَّنَا وَ لَا تُحَمِّلْنَا مَا لَا طَاقَةَ لَنَا بِهٖۚ-وَ اعْفُ عَنَّاٙ-وَ اغْفِرْ لَنَاٙ-وَ ارْحَمْنَاٙ-اَنْتَ مَوْلٰىنَا فَانْصُرْنَا عَلَى الْقَوْمِ الْكٰفِرِیْنَ۠(۲۸۶)

Allāh does not charge a soul except [with that within] its capacity. It will have [the consequence of] what [good] it has gained, and it will bear [the consequence of] what [evil] it has earned. “Our Lord, do not impose blame upon us if we have forgotten or erred. Our Lord, and lay not upon us a burden like that which You laid upon those before us. Our Lord, and burden us not with that which we have no ability to bear. And pardon us; and forgive us; and have mercy upon us. You are our protector, so give us victory over the disbelieving people.”

اللہ کسی جان پر اس کی طاقت کے برابر ہی بوجھ ڈالتا ہے ۔ کسی جان نے جو اچھاکمایا وہ اسی کیلئے ہے اور کسی جان نے جو برا کمایا اس کا وبال اسی پر ہے ۔اے ہمارے رب! اگر ہم بھولیں یا خطا کریں تو ہماری گرفت نہ فرما ،اے ہمارے رب! اور ہم پر بھاری بوجھ نہ رکھ جیسا تو نے ہم سے پہلے لوگوں پر رکھا تھا، اے ہمارے رب!اور ہم پر وہ بوجھ نہ ڈال جس کی ہمیں طاقت نہیں اور ہمیں معاف فرمادے اور ہمیں بخش دے اور ہم پر مہربانی فرما، تو ہمارا مالک ہے پس کافر قوم کے مقابلے میں ہماری مدد فرما۔

Vitues & Benefits of the last two verses of Surah Baqarah (2:285-286):

Gift of Shab-e-Meeraj:

Surah Al-Baqarah has enormous value and great rewards for us in this life and the next. According to Hadith, the last verses of Surah Al-Baqarah are one of the gifts bestowed upon our Prophet (S.A.W.) during the Night Journey (Shab-e-Meraaj):

“When Allah’s Messenger (S.A.W.) was taken on the Night Journey. He stated: “It was gold moths. And three things were given to me: the five daily prayers, the last verses of Surah Al-Baqarah, and whoever of my Ummah die without associating anything with Allah will be forgiven for Al-Muqhimat.”

(Sunan An-Nisai: 452)

Imaam Ahmad reported in his Musnad from Abu Dharr R.A that the Messenger of ALlah ﷺ said:

“I was given the last two verses from Surah Baqarah from the treasure that is just beneath the Throne that was not given to a Prophet before me.”

Protection at Night

It is narrated by Abu Masood R.A that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said,

“Whoever recites the two verses at the end of Surat-ul-Baqarah in the night, they will suffice him.”

Protection From The Evils:

Reciting these verses guard a believer from all sorts of evil strengths and evil eyes and ensure safety for them

Strengthens The Faith:

It strengthens the faith of a Muslim in Allah & guides him that Allah is his guider & creator

Source Of Forgiveness:

The last 2 verses can also be recited as a dua from Allah as it covers the aspects of forgiveness and mercy of Allah on His believers

Blessing:

Surah Baqarah is one of the reasons for obtaining a blessing, which is achieved for Muslims by obtaining good deeds from reading it, from memorizing its verses, and listening to it.

“Allah wrote a book two thousand years before He created the heavens and the Earth, and in it are the last two verses of Soorat Al-Baqarah. The devil will not come near a house in which they are recited for three nights.”

In Surah Baqarah last 2 ayat, Allah (SWT) commands the believers to turn to them in Tauba (repentance) and seek His forgiveness. He promises to forgive those who repent and turn to Him with sincerity. These Surah Baqarah last ayat are a powerful reminder of the importance of repentance and the mercy of Allah (SWT). The last two verses of Surah Baqarah are short but extremely rewarding. Reciting the last two verses of Surah Baqarah can help us in gaining Allah’s mercy and forgiveness.
