A Powerful Dua for Wealth, Blessings, and a Righteous Life
Allahumma aktsir maali wa waladii Wa baarik lii fiimaa a‘thoitanii
In our journey through life, we all seek blessings—whether it’s in our wealth, family, health, or faith. Islam doesn’t discourage us from asking for abundance. In fact, the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ himself made du’as asking for barakah (blessing), rizq (provision), and a life lived in obedience to Allah. One such meaningful dua for wealth, barakah, children is:
اللَّهُمَّ أَكْثِرْ مَالِي وَوَلَدِي وَبَارِكْ لِي فِيمَا أَعْطَيْتَنِي
Allahumma aktsir maali wa waladii Wa baarik lii fiimaa a‘thoitanii
O Allah, increase my wealth and children! Bless me in what You have given me!
This heartfelt prayer is a complete package: wealth, barakah, righteous life, and forgiveness—all in one.
This dua is taken directly from the hadith in which the Prophet ﷺ made this supplication for his servant, Anas ibn Mālik (RA).
Narrated Anas:
Um Sulaim said (to the Prophet), “Anas is your servant; so please invoke for Allah’s blessings for him.
“He said
“O Allah! Increase his wealth and offspring, and Bless (for him) whatever You give him.”
Sahih al-Bukhari 6380, 6381
When Anas (RA) served the Prophet ﷺ for ten years, his mother, Umm Sulaim, asked the Prophet to make dua for her son. This was the supplication the Prophet ﷺ offered.
It is Sunnah to Ask for Worldly Good
Islam does not discourage asking Allah for wealth or children. In fact, the Prophet ﷺ himself prayed for these things for others—with the condition that barakah (blessing) is also included.
Barakah Is More Important Than Quantity
Without barakah, even large amounts of money or a big family may bring stress or harm. But when Allah blesses what we have, even little becomes enough and full of khayr.
The Dua Is General and Can Be Used by All
Although it was made for Anas, this dua is not limited to him. It is permissible and beneficial for Muslims today to recite this dua with sincerity, hoping for Allah’s mercy and blessings.
How to Use This Dua Today
You can recite this dua in many situations:
-
After obligatory or voluntary prayers
-
During morning and evening adhkar
-
When seeking financial stability or family growth
-
When making general dua for yourself or your loved ones
Try to recite with presence of heart, and always remember to include barakah in your supplications—not just increase in number, but goodness in what you have.
Full Extended Version
Some scholars recommend pairing it with other beautiful phrases for a more complete dua, such as:
اللَّهُمَّ أَكْثِرْ مَالِي وَوَلَدِي
Allahumma aktsir maali wa waladii
O Allah, increase my wealth and children!
Wa baarik lii fiimaa a‘thoitanii
Bless me in what You have given me!
Wa athil hayaati ‘alaa tho‘atik
Grant me a long life in obedience to You!
Wa ahsin ‘amalii waghfir lii
Improve my deeds and forgive me!
This helps balance worldly desires with spiritual priorities.
Conclusion
This Prophetic dua offers a balanced and powerful way to ask Allah for more—more wealth, more family, and most importantly, more barakah. It reminds us that Islam encourages believers to seek success in both worlds, but always with a heart connected to Allah and His guidance.
Whether you’re facing financial hardship, seeking to grow your family, or simply wishing for blessings in what you already have, this dua is a beautiful part of the Sunnah to include in your life.
